How to cope up with Stress while pursuing studies at APEX

Stress is an omnipresent part of life that one has to go at some point of time or the other in life. Quite frequently, most of the students face a host of stresses while pursuing their studies. The University-level homework may be more challenging than anything students ever faced before, and final exams can bring a whole new meaning to the term ‘crunch time.’ Some students fall behind on homework, stop attending classes and restore to substance abuse & other harmful acts to cope up with the ever increasing stress level. We at APEX havequite good ideas for managing University / College lifeto keep stress levels well under control. Time is probably the biggest source of triggering stress. Therefore, in order to manage time to avoid the stress, we advise the students to insist on time management by regularly practicing the following methods;
  • For every hour of lecture per week,students should set aside 2-3 hours to study outside of classroom.
  • While studying, eliminate distractions so that they can stay focused.
  • Pick a place that one is comfortable being at, whether it’s in the library, a coffee shop, or the student lounge.
  • If studying for 2-3 hours per unit is not realistic, try to schedule with a combination of some less challenging courses with difficult ones in the same quarter/semester. This will allow students to avoid feeling overloaded. Of course, if one enjoy a particular subject, studying for it won’t feel like an obligation.
Apart from above, make use of the university /college environment to find a work-life balance. Because, being in university / college campuses of APEX is the best time for the students to build life-long relationships, as well as to expand their social and professional networks. Use social platforms such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Google Plus and more. Join social groups and professional groups; attend activities and have fun at the same time. This all will help assist the students to relax and see things in the real world. Most university /college students often make the same mistake,they sacrifice sleep for everything else. When our body is weak, it induces stress. Leading to small mistakes, simply because we are too exhausted to make good decisions or function on a regular basis. Resting is part of life. 1/3 of our lifetime is meant to be sleeping. We at APEX suggests the students to schedule 6-8 hours of sleep for most nights in order to restore the energy & to avoid the unnecessary stress. It is obvious that some stresses are unavoidable, so we suggest students to develop healthy ways to deal with it by doing some exercises as athletic exercise, meditation or simple breathing exercises. An important part to remain stress free is to learn to establish connections with professional individuals, especially with the teachers. So at APEX, stay positive to remain Stress free !
