What is Exam Anxiety?

But first, we should know what is anxiety. “Anxiety is a feeling of worry or fear” Exam anxiety is a kind of performance anxiety. It can affect everyone from kindergarteners to Ph.D. candidates. We may feel anxious about the exam we’re about to take. But now the question is what causes this anxiety. Exam anxiety can be caused by embarrassment at one point about academic performance or being placed into a course that is above your ability. Sometimes pressure by family, friends , professors, classmates, or fear of failure may be a lack of preparation also. Can we overcome this anxiety if yes then how? Yes, we can overcome this anxiety here’s how.
  1. We must be prepared because then we will feel confident throughout the test.
  2. Just get a good night’s sleep having adequate rest is more likely to be beneficial.
  3. Have a nutritious breakfast before the test for ongoing energy.
  4. get to class or the testing site early. Pack everything you need for the exam the night before and set the alarm so you can get out of the door on time.
  5. Read carefully all the direction thoroughly and read all answers before choosing to start the exam.
  6. Don’t pay attention to what the other people are doing.
  7. Watch the clock. Mentally allocate how much time you’ll spend on each section if there is time to recheck even better.
  8. focus on calm breathing and positive thoughts the very act of concentrating on breathing and thinking can biometrically alter those anxious feelings.
